Overview of Boutique Shades

PROS

  • VIEW: Excellent for view, can lift all the way up, or can adjust the slats to be open allowing for a full view.

  • PRIVACY- Great for privacy, can have parts open or closed, and utilize the shear to let light in without sacrificing on privacy.

  • CLEANING: Easy to clean, the biggest problem is if a little bug gets caught then you have to use a compressed air or a vacuum to get it out. Otherwise a light vacuuming every few months keeps them very clean.

  • DARKENING: These shades are able to have darken material added them to be very darkening.

CONS

  • AIRFLOW- Air can slightly come through the shear material when they are down, but not a significant amount. However you can lift them up completely for full airflow.

  • INSULATION: They aren’t meant for heavy insulation, rated a 2 out of 5.

They shades don’t just go up and down, they have light control, view options, great room darkening features, and integrate into smart home systems very well.

Window treatments can be both a decoration piece in the home along with a useful tool. With motorization, you can set the mood and while also controlling light and privacy. Adding motorization has the following benefits:

“Good Morning” Mode

Motorization comes a variety of settings that you can set up right on your phone. Our favorite is ‘Good Morning’ mode and ‘Good Night’ mode. In these modes you can set up your window coverings to open up at a certain time, and in a certain way every morning. Imagine laying in bed and clicking the ‘Good Morning’ mode and your shades open 1/5 of the way down in your bedroom letting in the sunshine while also preserving your privacy, adding to your morning wake up routine. Then you walk down stairs and you kitchen and living room windows are also letting the morning light in, creating a peaceful welcoming start to your day.

Energy Efficient

Motorization allows you to schedule the shades to close at certain times throughout the day or year in order to heat or cool your home properly based on the weather. This cuts back on heating and cooling costs. For example, during the summer the window coverings can be set to close midday in order to keep the house cool and in the winter can be scheduled to open midday in order to let sunlight in and warm up the house.

Smart Home Compatible

Like many other features in your home, these window treatments can be controlled from your phone or mobile device, and can also be linked up to other devices such as Apple Home and Amazon Alexa. It can also be set up to be voice activated, and you can control the window coverings from anywhere in your home at any time.

Hard to Reach Places

Adding motorization to windows in hard to reach places makes controlling how much light coming in a lot easier. For higher up windows, all you will need is the app on your phone or a voice command and you can control those difficult windows.
