  • AIRFLOW: great for airflow, ample amounts of air flow can come in without any noise from the breeze.

  • DARKNESS: We rate shutters 4 out of 5. They will keep your room decently dark, and allow for great light control with their tilt feature.

  • PRIVACY: Their tilt features is great for privacy. In addition you can have split tile, where the for example the top can be open, and bottom can be closed.

  • INSULATION: Since shutters stay in front of the window most of the time, they are constantly cutting our heat, light and glare.

CONS

  • VIEW: The shutter doors can be large and difficult to completely open. Some scenarios where this happens are behind couches, desks, and dressers. Because shutters of typically used as a tilt only product that always stays in your windows, they aren’t ideal for a wide open view.

Which is the right option for your space?

There are three types of materials available for your shutters: vinyl, composite, and real wood.

For spaces that are damp or exposed to water and steam, vinyl is a great option. Examples are ocean front homes, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and kitchens. Vinyl is water proof and won’t peel like painted wood. These are also manufactured in 7-10 days, with this quick turn around time we can install your new window coverings on a fast timeline.

For spaces that aren’t subject to moisture composite or real wood are great options. Composite looks the same as wood and is the most popular material option for shutters. They are available in a large array of colors and textures. Composite shutters are heavier than vinyl and feel like real wood. Another great feature are their ability to be in hot and heated areas since they don’t tend to warp, bend or move from the heat. Where as real wood expands and contracts with large amounts of heat.

Real wood is of coarse very beautiful and lasts a very long time as well. The only downsides to wood are the increase in cost, as well as the potential for warping in the heat, and paint peeling if overly exposed to moisture.
